Helene Scheff - Ballet/ Pointe Teacher
Helene Scheff is a graduate in dance from the High School of Performing
Arts in NYC. As a student she taught classes at Brooklyn College
and later choreographed for University of Kansas and University
of Mass at Amherst. After leaving NYC she established and taught
at schools of dance in Kansas and Massachusetts. Since moving to
RI, she taught at Kingstown Dance Center for 25 years. Helene is
a founding member and past president of Dance Alliance of Rhode

Chance to Dance allows school children to come into contact with
the study of choreographed dance; learn how to perform in public;
how to behave in a dance class; and a host of other useful lifetime
skills. For many children, this is their first contact with live
performing arts. She still works on a part-time basis at Art in
Motion where in addition to teaching ballet and tap, she teaches
master classes in character and flamenco. With co-authors she has
published Building Dances, Building More Dances and Experiencing
Dance, has acted in leadership and consultant roles in state, regional,
and national dance organizations, providing professional development
for their constituencies. Helene's goals still remain to provide
quality dance education opportunities to ALL children.
